About

Welcome to my little corner of the internet. If you've found your way here, you're probably wondering who I am and what this website is about. I'll do my best to answer both.

I'm Matias. I was born in Chile, where I still live today. I've always been a curious person, particularly when it comes to understanding how things work.

Computers have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I started programming when I was eleven, and over the years I've built all sorts of things, from websites to web applications used by thousands of people. I've been freelancing since 2021, and these days I divide my time between work and my computer science studies. I already have another website dedicated to my professional side, so I'll spare you the details here.

I also enjoy listening to music, with Japanese pop accounting for most of my listening. According to Spotify, my most-played song this year is みちづれ by Hoshimachi Suisei.

I also like anime. The first one I watched was Charlotte, which follows a group of teenagers with unusual abilities. I had no idea how far that little discovery would take me. A couple hundred anime later, I'm still watching, and somehow my watchlist keeps getting longer.

Another thing I care about is the environment. A few years ago, I came across Ecologi through its co-founder, Elliot Coad. I liked the idea that I could make a difference myself, even in a small way. So I decided to get involved, and over time, my contributions helped fund the planting of thousands of trees. Ecologi has since grown into a platform focused primarily on businesses, but my contributions are still recorded in my forest. It's a lovely reminder of something I'm grateful to have been part of.

I also enjoy video games. One of my favorites is Meowdoku, a logic puzzle that's a little like Sudoku, except you're placing cats instead of numbers. The idea is to place exactly one cat in every row, column, and colored region, without letting any two cats touch, even diagonally. It's surprisingly challenging.

There's always something new I'd like to learn. I imagine that as my interests evolve, I'll find more things worth sharing, which brings me back to the other question from the beginning.
